Put my phone in RECOVERY mode, iTunes gave me 1604. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Mac platforms. I Uninstalled iTunes (10.0), installed iTunes 10.1, reconnected the iPhone and it was able to communicate. I have done mine, 3GS. HISTORY: my iphone 3GS kept rebooting, so I tried a restore, bang error 29, even with proper Apple restore nothing helped.
I tried everything to exit it from recovery, things like iREB, TinyUmbrella, redsn0w but it's not working..it shows that error 1604 every time. Flashing the bb might take several try'sClick to expand... nothing happens in ireb i can click everywhere.. :/ maybe windows 7 isnt good for the tools.. When getting the iTunes error code 1604, try changing USB ports and use a different dock connector to USB cable to see whether the code disappears or not.
FIX: I restored to IOS 3.1.3, gave me error 29, then I used Recboot to get me out of the Recovery Loop, fixed, phone works, However I am on IOS 3.1.3
