I got the following error: Header: Microsoft Management Console Body: Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. I deployed tomcat 6.0.18 on my laptop & I had to resolve this little issue with the startup using the dll file. I love the web. This service is starting perfectly fine.

Permissions was actually keeping me from editing the file. We provide PGP signatures for every release file. Then after uninstalling & reinstalling Tomcat, setting the port, user & pass (sure it matched this time), all was well. I just uninstalled Data Services, and now Tomcat won't start.
I tried to uninstall theservice and reinstall it with service.bat in bin directory, but didn'twork.It depends on JVM parameters? My suggestion to you is that you go ahead with the zip file for Tomcat rather than the exe installation.
